Keratoconus
Keratoconus is a condition when the normally round cornea becomes thin and develops a cone-like bulge. Keratoconus causes blurred vision and may cause sensitivity to light and glare. Mild to moderate Keratoconus can be treated with glasses or contact lenses, while more severe cases may need a cornea transplant.
A new treatment called corneal cross-linking may stop or slow keratoconus, preventing the need for a cornea transplant. Early detection is key with keratoconus, and your doctors at Southwest Eyecare will look for signs during your eye exam.
